You will be called harsh.
You will be called unrealistic.
You will be called inconsiderate.
You will be called selfish.
You will be called dramatic.
You will be called demanding.
You will get familiar with ALL of these accusations when you begin setting boundaries and calling people out when they violate your requirements/standards.
Many people prefer you are ACCOMMODATING.
Even when they are taking advantage you.
Even when they are disrespecting you.
Even when they are acting out of entitlement.
Even when they are violating your most basic rights.
People will show you their true colors REAL QUICK when you refuse to be accommodating. When you say “no”. When you maintain your requirements. When you call them out and demand respect.
This is why honoring yourself is SO DAMN HARD. It WILL come with push back and resistance.
Remember, the only people who have a problem with you respecting yourself and having boundaries are the people interested in disrespecting you and walking all over your boundaries.
The people who love and cherish you CELEBRATE your determination to honor yourself.
You get to decide who you want to surround yourself with. When people show you their true colors, don’t try to repaint them.
